Dr Bimal Chhajer is a renowned Indian cardiologist, widely recognised as the pioneer of non-invasive cardiology in India. He is the founder of SAAOL Heart Centre and has treated more than 700,000 patients using lifestyle-based, non-surgical approaches to reverse heart disease.

Dr Bimal Chhajer was born in 1961 into a Jain family in a small village in West Bengal.
He completed matriculation with distinction from a local school, followed by studies at St. Lawrence High School in Kolkata.
In 1986, he did his MBBS from R.G. Kar Medical College, Kolkata.
After that, he moved to Delhi at age 25 and initially worked in the cardiology department at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
Later in 1989, he completed his MD from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, where he conducted research on non-invasive methods for treating heart patients.
Dr Bimal Chhajer worked at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, for six years (1989–1995) as a Senior Resident and Assistant Professor.
Dr Chhajer also received training from Dr Dean Ornish, who pioneered lifestyle treatment in the USA.
In 1995, Dr Bimal Chhajer resigned from AIIMS and began treating heart patients in Delhi with his new treatment, called “SAAOL” (Science and Art of Living).
In 1996, Dr Chhajer opened his second clinic in Mumbai and has since expanded to 110 centres across India and the subcontinent.
In 2009, Saaol opened its first international Centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and a year later, in Kathmandu, Nepal.
